A Letter from APT President, Dalisha Herring

Dear Panhellenic Sisters,

The NPC Alumnae Panhellenics Committee recently hosted a best practices Zoom session with the 2021-23 Harriet Macht Outstanding Alumnae Panhellenic Chapter Award winner — Phoenix, AZ. Some of the Phoenix executive board graciously shared their best practices demonstrating how they operate and raised over $250,000 during the biennium. Incredible! Granted, they are a much larger metropolitan area than we are in Tallahassee, and the bulk of their fundraising comes from donations from the PGA tour events (in exchange for their provision of volunteers at the PGA events), I believe there is much to learn from their organization and structure for us to consider implementing.

As we all know, it has been a tough road to recovery in terms of getting people out and participating in gatherings since the pandemic. Our local Alumnae Panhellenic organization reorganized our structure in 2022 to eliminate the delegate structure and switch gears to an individual membership-based structure focusing more on social gatherings. Unfortunately, this reorganization has created its own challenges to being successful given the purpose of the Alumnae Panhellenic organization.

Our Alumnae Panhellenic of Tallahassee executive committee want to meet with all of our current members and all local NPC alumnae chapter presidents, Alumnae Panhellenic delegate (or their designees), and any other interested individuals who are also initiated members of NPC-affiliated groups.

We will gather on Zoom at 7:00 p.m., Thursday, November 2, to discuss where we are and where we want to go from here. The Executive Committee has ideas of how we might reorganize (again) and how to move forward to best function with our general objectives of promoting sisterhood, serving our community, and awarding scholarships to women in the FSU Panhellenic community. However, we want the input of our NPC alumnae and their ideas before any changes are made.

Yours in Panhellenic,

Dalisha Herring
