A Message from Alumnae Panhellenic of Tallahassee – Honoring Our Legacy and Looking Ahead
Dear Alumnae Panhellenic Sisters,
It is with heartfelt reflection and deep appreciation that I write to share an important and difficult decision about the future of our organization.
After thoughtful discussion and careful consideration, the Executive Board of Alumnae Panhellenic of Tallahassee has voted to formally conclude our chapter’s operations following one final scholarship award cycle in Fall 2025. This decision comes after ongoing efforts to revitalize engagement post-pandemic, including attempts to revive our signature annual scholarship luncheon and to encourage broader participation in leadership and programming.
Despite our shared love for the Panhellenic sisterhood and our long-standing tradition of supporting women at Florida State University through scholarships, it has become clear that the level of involvement and support needed to sustain the organization is no longer present. Our most recent open forum gathering, held on June 24, 2025, reinforced these concerns. Only five individuals attended—three of whom were current executive board members.
We are incredibly proud of the legacy we leave behind. Since her founding, Alumnae Panhellenic of Tallahassee has served as a space for friendship, philanthropy, and service across all National Panhellenic Conference (NPC) organizations. Most notably, we have proudly awarded numerous scholarships to collegiate women who embody the values of scholarship, leadership, and Panhellenic spirit.
To honor this legacy, our final act will be awarding scholarships during Fall 2025. The application will open during the first FSU College Panhellenic meeting on September 9, 2025, and will close on October 15, 2025. The Scholarship Committee, led by Nancy McConnell (Alpha Phi), will oversee the selection process. The final scholarship(s) will be awarded at the November 4 FSU Panhellenic meeting. Any remaining funds after this final distribution will be donated to the NPC Foundation general fund.
We are deeply grateful to all who have supported our efforts over the years—whether by attending events, serving on the board, mentoring collegiate women, or simply staying connected. You have helped build a legacy of generosity, sisterhood, and service that we hope will continue to inspire in other ways, even as we formally close this chapter.
Thank you for being part of the story of Alumnae Panhellenic of Tallahassee. If you have questions or would like to offer your reflections as we prepare for this final chapter, I welcome you to reach out.
With sincere appreciation and Panhellenic love,
Dalisha Herring
